Nokia kicks off E6 and X7 in India

Nokia, Giant mobile maker has launched its two fresh smartphones named as E6 and X7 in the Indian Market. The E6 hits the market with a price tag of Rs. 18,679 while the X7 handset is priced at Rs. 22,829 respectively. But the customers can also purchase through an online retailer at a cost of Rs. 17,999 and Rs. 21,999 respectively for E6 and X7.

At the launch occassion, Nokia reveals that the company has already joint with Microsoft for its Windows Phone 7 and it would continue to support Symbian Anna till 2016. These two handsets are developed on the basis of Symbian Anna platform which is a new update of the Symbian platform.

Viral Oza, Marketing Director of Nokia India informs that the Symbain Anna provides a renewed user experience and has rich and sharper icons with improved text input. Further, the company says that the Symbian Anna can be downloaded on three existing Symbian smartphones from September, 2011 onwards for free.

The first mobile E6 is a touch and type business smartphone with QWERTY keypad which provides exceptional battery life, high resolution touch display best messaging experience includes Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Communicator Mobile and Microsoft SharePoint. The E6 comes with three attractive shades namely black, silver and white.

Another mobile named X7 is designed especially for entertainment enthusiasts. This smartphone is well equipped with a large 4" display ideal for gaming and 8 MP camera for capturing pictures and HD-quality video. The X7 is pre-installed with the famous Galaxy on Fire HD and Asphalt 5 HD games.

The Nokia X7 users can have the possibility of accessing a range of premium HD games via the Ovi store with free of charge. The Nokia X7 is available in two impressive shades such as dark steel and light steel. These handsets are very sleek and it is very compact so that it can be used with either one hand or two.

Finally Oza concludes that with these two innovative devices on exciting Symbian Anna, they targets to further consolidate their leadership position in the Indian smartphone market and also he informs that the shipping of Nokia N8s, E7s, C7s and C6-01s with new Symbian Anna software will start from the month of July.

Airtel 3G shrinks the world with launch of international video calling services

Airtel's International Video Calling is currently available for 227 international geographies. An Airtel 3G customer in India can see and talk with his friends and relatives in USA, Canada, Bangladesh face to face through video call at just Rs.14/min, while on the move. Similarly, video calls to UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Oman are priced at Rs. 20 per minute.

As a pre-requisite to making ISD video calls, both the caller and the called customer have to be on 3G network and have a front-camera in their 3G handset in their respective countries.

Vodafone Users Can Now Recharge at Self Service Kiosks

Vodafone Essar, one of India's leading cellular service providers, today announced the launch of self service recharge facility through the existing network of kiosks for its prepaid customers across Chennai and Tamil Nadu.

Prepaid customers can use the self-service kiosks at various locations across the state to recharge their talk time. Recharge options for customers are available in various denominations starting from Rs 10. Once customers select the e-top up of their choice and make payment by following the IVR instructions, they will receive their desired recharge amount and payment receipt from the self service kiosk along with a confirmation SMS.

Price of iPhone 3GS reduce to Rs 19,990

In 2009, the iPhone 3GS was launched and now Apple is planning to re-launch its two-year-old iPhone in India. This has been launched at a price of Rs.19,990 and the iPhone 3GS will appear with 8GB internal storage.

The iphone 3GS boasts a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen of resolution 320 x 480 pixels. The device is powered by a 600Mhz processor and it is developed on the basis of Apple’s latest iOS version 4.3. This gives a tough competition to other similarly priced Android devices which have better hardware.

Tata DOCOMO, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited, India's fastest-growing dual-technology telecom service provider, today announced the launch of a revolutionary internet access device—3G Wi-Fi Hub—enabling multiple users and devices to share wireless Internet access and stay connected on the go. Customers can choose from a number of plans on both the Tata DOCOMO 3G GSM and Tata Photon Plus SUKs and can data speed of 7.2 Mbps and 3.1 Mbps, respectively. 3G Wi-Fi Hub Plans

There are two plans available—the Wi-Fi Rs 750 and Wi-Fi Rs 1,000 plans. The Wi-Fi Rs 750 Plan comes with a monthly rental of Rs 750, wherein customers can enjoy data usage of 2GB. Post the 2 GB being consumed, customers will have to pay a nominal cost of 50 paise per MB for additional data usage. Similarly, the Wi-Fi Unlimited Rs 1,000 Plan comes with a monthly rental of Rs 1,000, wherein customers will get 5GB of data usage. Aircel to unveil Apple iPhone 4 on May 27

BSNL To Unveil 3G Services in Jammu and Kashmir

State-Owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) announced that it will launch much awaited 3G Mobile and Data services across Jammu and Kashmir Telecom Circle by June 2011. Earlier in Jammu and Kashmir circle, BSNL has launched its 3G services in Jammu City on Trail basis and after some security reasons the services was put on hold. Riding on 3G, BSNL gives several options including High Speed Internet access with faster data downloading speed up to 3.6 Mbps, Video calls and also subscribers can enjoy Live Mobile TV & VoIP services on 3G Compatible mobile phone.

According to Mr R K Koul, CGMT, BSNL J&K circle, " The equipment for 3G services including the real time video monitoring apparatus has been procured and installed in various cities in Jammu and Kashmir. We hope to kickoff the much awaited commercial 3G service in J&K by June." At present BSNL has 3G coverage in more than 750 cities across India. BSNL's endeavors are focused on offering the latest technology and services at affordable cost to its customers.

GSM telcos adds 14.49 million new subscribers in March

Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) reports that GSM mobile subscribers base increased by 14.49 million subscribers considering the total number of cellular users in the country to 569.55 million in the month of March. But at the end of February 2011, the GSM subscriber base stood at 555.06 million. The COAI data eliminates Reliance Communications and TTSL since it provides both GSM and CDMA services.

Vodafone Essar, the highest among all the telecommunications added over 3.68 million new subscribers with its total user base to 134.56 million. Bharti Airtel, Telecom Giant added over 3.20 million new subscribers considering their base to 162.20 million. Bharti Airtel has a market share of 28.48% while Vodafone has 23.63% market share. Aditya Birla group firm Idea Cellular added 2.70 million new users and Aircel added over 1.34 million subscribers respectively. In addition, State-run telecom firms BSNL and MTNL added 1.35 million and 20,720 news subscribers taking their subscriber base to 86.45 million and 5.19 million.
